This page was created using a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station which is interfaced to my Macintosh via Lightsoft Weather Center from Lightsoft Software.
If you want to see more data from this weather station, you can go to My Weather Underground Page or you can check out my Historical Weather Data Page. I’m also streaming the local Columbia, SC NOAA Weather Radio using this link.
Nice site. Where is Ashford? I used to live in Harbison. I like the webcam image.
Thanks for the comments. We’re off Exit 97. Closer to Ballentine than Irmo.
Great site. You have pieced together a good number of neat features. Well done. With whom did you register your domain name? Are you running your own server?
Thanks for the nice comments.
I registered this domain a long time ago with a company I don’t even remember anymore. At any rate, my current registrar is Godaddy.
This site is on a Linux system (CentOS) and I’m using Wordpress as the blog engine. If you’ve ever used Wordpress, this is just a “Page” post and I’m using a plugin that will read the weather data from a separate file and put it into this post as it’s updated by LWC.
Nice page! I was wondering what web cam you’re using. I’ve got a Lynksys wireless camera and, although it works, the image is not very good.
I’m using an old camcorder I had lying around. It’s hooked up via firewire and the pic is uploaded with Evocam. I tried a cheap logitech once, but the quality was awful. They just don’t have the dynamic range necessary for outdoor shots.
Thanks for the info! That’s how I was going to do it as well, but that meant that the camera was tethered to the computer, limiting the view possibilities. That’s the one thing I really like about the WiFi IP camera: I can put it anywhere, plug it into an electrical outlet and it’s good to go! Of course, the one I bought was pretty much the least expensive I could find. It seems reasonable to expect the higher-priced ones to have a better image, and maybe one day I’ll give it a shot.
