Back from Germany No Comments Yet

Well, our vacation is over and we had a great time in Germany. We saw three castles, went to Norderney, took a drive along the North Sea coast through Wilhelmshaven, went to a Goldene Hochzeit, drank bier, drank schnapps, ate lots of bread and cheese, did some hiking in Austria, and even did some Geocaching. We utilized about every mode of transportation you can think of while there as well: trains, planes, ships, automobile, and foot.152 MPH on the German ICE Train

Yes, we were actually going 152 MPH on a Train. The ICE to be exact.

You can find plenty of pics at Flickr. And most of the pics have been geotagged which you can see on a map at flickr. Just zoom into the areas with the pink dots and you can see the actual location of the pics.

The preliminary sechdule looks like this:

  • Arrive in Bremen then off to Aurich-Oldendorf via some means of ground transportaion
  • After spending a few days in Aurich-Oldendorf, head for Leer and travel to Füssen via Train
  • Spend a few days in Füssen seeing the sights. More specifically, Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau and the Marienbrücke
  • On to Salzburg to visit Berchtesgaden and the Eagle’s Nest, the Salt Mines (maybe), Hohensalzburg, and hopefully the Königssee.
  • Back to Leer and Aurich-Oldendorf for the big parties then off for a quick trip to Norderney and Bremen
  • Then back home

We took this pic the last time we visited Neuschwanstein. If this castle looks a little familiar, that’s because Disney took inspiration for their fairy-tale castles from Neuschwanstein. Hopefully, the weather will be better this time around.

IMG_4833We did a little more today and ending up walking around 4 miles total. It was fun and we saw some places we’d have never seen otherwise. Click the pic above and you can also see more pictures along with a map of where we were when the pics were taken.
